About Us

J.B. Roy State Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital is a government Ayurvedic medical college and teaching hospital located at 170-172, Raja Dinendra Street, Fariapukur, Shyambazar, Kolkata - 700004. The institution was established on 10 February 1916 by renowned Ayurvedic physician Kaviraj Jamini Bhushan Roy and is one of the historic institutions associated with organised Ayurvedic medical education in India.

The institution operates under the Government of West Bengal and provides Ayurvedic education, clinical treatment and research. Its present academic programme includes the BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) course with compulsory internship, and the institution is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences.

The college and hospital has its main campus on Raja Dinendra Street and an annexed Patipukur Ayurvedic Hospital at 29, S.K. Deb Road, Kolkata. The official website lists 120 beds at the Raja Dinendra Street campus and 94 beds at the Patipukur campus.
