ISKCON Kolkata, Sri Sri Radha Govinda Mandir is a prominent Vaishnava temple located at 3C Albert Road, near Birla High School, Minto Park, Kolkata 700017. It is historically significant as the first ISKCON centre established in India by Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in 1970.
The first deity in India was installed at the Kolkata centre in May 1971, and the first ISKCON Rath Yatra in India was celebrated from Kolkata on 12 July 1972. The temple also preserves the room where Srila Prabhupada stayed, along with some of his personal belongings.
The temple is dedicated to Sri Sri Radha Govinda and focuses on devotional worship, Krishna consciousness, spiritual education, congregational chanting and cultural activities. West Bengal Tourism describes ISKCON Kolkata as an important religious and tourist attraction of the city.
