Deshapriya Club, Kaliaganj, Uttar Dinajpur is presenting an unusual Durga Puja concept in 2026 by bringing together traditional Kumartuli craftsmanship and artificial intelligence-inspired design.
For this year's Puja, the club commissioned Kumartuli artist Indrajit Pal to create an AI-inspired robotic Maa Durga idol. The design gives the traditional Goddess a futuristic robotic appearance while retaining important elements of the traditional Durga idol. India Blooms reports that the idol was commissioned by Deshapriya Club and will feature AI-inspired live lighting effects integrated across the structure.
The concept was developed from an AI-generated design, which was then artistically corrected and recreated by Kumartuli craftsmen. The artist explained that the AI design contained some traditional inaccuracies, including missing weapons and the absence of the vahanas of Kartik, Saraswati and Lakshmi, so these elements were corrected during the idol-making process.
